RYAN MICHAELS BAND TO PREMIERE “LIFE IS FOR THE LIVING" AT THE BELCOURT THEATRE Nashville Rockers Unveil New Video Inspired By Real Life Stories From Music City Nashville, TN – Thursday, June 9, 2011 - On Thursday, June 16, the Ryan Michaels Band will unveil a project nearly half a year in the making. "We didn't just want to make a music video, we wanted to do something special that would recognize inspirational people and organizations in our city and leave people feeling uplifted,” says frontman Ryan Michaels. “I don't think there's enough of that in today's society and we wanted to put ourselves out there with something positive." To watch the video, click here. The video was produced by Michaels with the band’s drummer and longtime friend Andy Calmes, and videographer Kevin Kaz. Through tireless hours of research and brainstorming sessions, the team discovered several inspiring stories: Jasen Howard, a former homeless man who with the help of The Contributor (a newspaper that provides the homeless with the opportunity to become vendors and create income) was able to work his way off the streets and into an apartment. Even before its official release, the song “Life is for the Living,” has been added to several college, internet and mainstream radio stations. The song was penned by Michaels with collaborator Joie Scott shortly after the passing of Ryan's grandmother Sylvia Rothstein and Scott's mother Bernice Handelman-Wallis. "Joie and I have always been very close, like family,” says Michaels. “The idea for the song came from a conversation we had about how both my grandma and her mother were such loving and positive people and how they would always say ‘Life Is for the Living.’ I believe that this song is a gift they left us with. By using it, we’re able to put this message out there as a tribute to them - a tribute to the way they lived." The video release at The Belcourt on Thursday June 16th is in partnership with the screening of moving film "Beyond The Myth." "We are excited to let you know about the latest from 615 Music and Song Street Records, a division of 615 that connects emerging and independent artists with producers and music supervisors for film, TV and other new media platforms. Song Street Records is announcing its partnership with Nashville rockers Ryan Michaels Band. As part of the agreement, Song Street Records will exclusively administer a selection of Ryan Michaels Band’s songs for synch licensing purposes. What’s great about Song Street Records is that it provides independent bands like Ryan Michaels Band with a unique opportunity—giving them the resources and connections needed to place their music in advertisements, films or TV shows—that up-and-coming musicians wouldn’t have had available to them otherwise. Song Street Records was created in an effort to provide 615 Music’s film and TV client base with music from independent artists that they might not have previously been exposed to." ![]() 2-2-2011 RMB to Perform at SXSW Music FestivalWe are going to Austin!!! |
